Job description

Techyon is the leading Head Hunter in the search and selection of senior professionals and managers in the Information Technology field.

About the Company: for a company specialized in inspection, homologation, and certification services in the automotive industry, our Recruitment Engineers are looking for a Technical Manager.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the central technical authority and ensure all activities comply with the standards of ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17021-1, and relevant sector-specific regulations (e.g., EU vehicle type-approval frameworks).
  • Maintain and oversee the implementation of all technical procedures, methodologies, and instructions.
  • Interpret and apply complex EU and national transport legislation to our inspection and certification processes and manage the response to technical queries from clients, auditors, and the designated authority (Ministry of Transport).
  • Work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure the effectiveness of the integrated management system.
  • Lead technical root cause analysis for non-conformities and implement effective corrective and preventive actions and drive continuous improvement of technical processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in assessments by the national accreditation body and other regulatory authorities.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of inspectors, auditors, and technical staff
  • Authorize specific personnel for inspection and certification tasks based on demonstrated competence.
  • Review and approve reports and certification decisions issued by the technical team
  • Oversee the management, calibration, and maintenance of specialized technical equipment used for inspections, identify and evaluate technical risks associated with inspection and certification
    activities and implement mitigation strategies and stay abreast of all changes in relevant standards, regulations, and technologies within the transport sector.

Job requirements

Must Have:
  • A master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or a related field). A bachelor's degree with significant additional experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in technical role within the transport, automotive, aerospace, or a closely related regulated industry.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership or management role within an accredited conformity assessment body (e.g., inspection, certification, testing).
  • In-depth, practical knowledge of ISO/IEC 17020 and/or ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements.
  • Strong understanding of EU transport regulations and type-approval processes.
  • Excellent command of English (both written and spoken). Proficiency in italian is required.
Nice to Have:
  • Formal training and qualifications as an Lead Auditor or Lead Inspector.
  • Direct experience interacting with national accreditation bodies and/or ministries of transport.
  • Experience in a designated technical service (DTS) for EU vehicle type-approval.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
